Lebanon denounces Israeli strike on journalists as ‘war crime’

Lebanon has accused Israel of a “deliberate” attack that killed three media workers in the country’s south, labeling it a “war crime.” The strike targeted a journalists’ residence in Hasbaya, killing Ghassan Najjar, Mohammad Reda, and Wissam Qassem from different media outlets.

Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack as a war crime, emphasizing it was a deliberate strike on journalists. Information Minister Ziad Makary claimed Israel monitored the journalists and attacked them while they were asleep.

Rescuers also killed

The strike also impacted journalists from other media firms, with Israel expanding its focus to Lebanon following the Gaza conflict. The war in Lebanon has claimed over 1,580 lives, including 163 rescuers and health workers.

Israel’s military reported striking over 200 militant targets in Lebanon, leading to five soldiers’ deaths in south Lebanon. They also targeted a border crossing, accusing Hezbollah of weapon trafficking.
