The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for an attack on a state-run Turkish defence firm in Ankara that left five dead and 22 wounded.

The PKK referred to the attack as an “act of sacrifice” carried out by a faction within their organization. The Turkish government, labeling PKK as a terrorist group, confirmed the group’s involvement in the attack.

In retaliation, Turkish warplanes targeted PKK locations in Iraq and Syria. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a security meeting following his return from the BRICS summit in Russia.
