Israel conducts ‘major massacre’ in Gaza, 150 dead/injured

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati recently spoke out on the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, emphasizing the need to implement UN Resolution 1701 and calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further bloodshed. He expressed gratitude for the international support shown at the Paris conference and urged for an end to the war so the country can focus on rebuilding and electing a new president.

Mikati highlighted the international pressure for a ceasefire and stressed that the responsibility lies with Israel to halt the violence. He emphasized the importance of protecting humanity and upholding global legitimacy in the midst of the crisis.

The immediate priorities, according to Mikati, are to stop the fighting, deploy the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon in accordance with Resolution 1701, and enhance cooperation with UNIFIL. He also underscored the crucial need for presidential elections and the formation of a government committed to enacting essential reforms.
