LONDON: Irish Prime Minister Expresses Support for Lebanon Amid Ongoing Israeli Attacks

The taoiseach of Ireland met with Lebanon’s prime minister in Dublin, offering support and solidarity during the current Israeli attacks. This marked the first visit by a Lebanese prime minister to Ireland, showcasing the importance of the meeting.

The leaders discussed the humanitarian challenges faced by Lebanon, with a call for an immediate cease-fire and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The Irish premier pledged support and solidarity, emphasizing the safety of UNIFIL peacekeepers in the region.

The Irish government also pledged an additional €5 million for Lebanon, reaffirming their commitment to supporting those most in need. It was stressed that the targeting of peacekeepers is a violation of international humanitarian law and must be condemned.

Amid escalating violence, the meeting highlighted the devastating impact on civilians in Lebanon. The focus remains on achieving a cease-fire in the region and ensuring the safety of all individuals affected by the conflict.
