Iran Writes Letter to UNSC Regarding Martyrdom of Two Nationals in Lebanon Bombings

Tragedy struck in Lebanon as Iranian nationals became victims of Israeli aggression. Masoumeh Karbasi and her husband were killed in a drone attack on their vehicle in Beirut on October 19. In a separate incident, Dr. Ali Heidari, an Iranian physician, was also assassinated in Beirut on October 22.

The Iranian ambassador condemned these attacks as violations of international humanitarian law and Lebanon’s sovereignty. The Israeli regime’s actions were deemed as blatant acts of terrorism.

The letter to the Security Council detailed the events, highlighting the disregard for civilian life by the attackers. Dr. Heidari’s assassination, while providing medical aid, was particularly condemned as a war crime under the Geneva Conventions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran called for strong condemnation from the Security Council and urged for accountability for Israel’s continuous violations of international law. The letter also requested thorough documentation of these violations for review by relevant UN bodies.

These incidents underscore the need for global action to uphold humanitarian law and protect innocent lives.
