Iran Red Crescent Calls for Joint Action Against Israeli Attacks in Lebanon and Gaza

During the 24th IFRC General Assembly, Iranian Red Crescent Chief, Ali Asghar Kolivand, expressed concerns about the challenges faced by humanitarian organizations in delivering aid to conflict zones. Despite the theoretical commitment to neutrality and impartiality, practical obstacles often hinder these efforts.

Kolivand highlighted the difficulties in sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing barriers encountered when trying to channel support through the Red Cross and IFRC. He also mentioned the wastage of supplies at Egypt’s Port Arish intended for Gaza, emphasizing the failure of humanitarian values in the process.

Furthermore, Kolivand discussed the repercussions of a terror-related explosion in Lebanon, underscoring the challenges of providing medical assistance in such emergencies. He stressed the need for advanced medical equipment to address the severe humanitarian needs in conflict zones.

The meeting with the Norwegian Red Cross president shed light on the gaps in humanitarian aid delivery and the importance of addressing these issues to ensure effective assistance to those in need.
