Humanitarian Worker Injured in Ambush on Torit-Magwi Road

During a humanitarian mission along the Torit-Magwi Road, a staff member of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) was injured when their vehicle was shot at on Wednesday evening. Annet Odi Alex, 38, was quickly taken to Magwi County Hospital for treatment after the incident near Kormush while travelling from Juba to Magwi.

Authorities assured the safety of the road despite the ambush, with the suspect still at large. The victim, with a bullet lodged in her thigh, was reported to be in stable condition with no bone damage. The police are actively investigating the incident in search of the perpetrator.

Expressing concern, the Executive Director of the Road to Election Development Organization (REDO) emphasized the impact of such attacks on vulnerable populations. Communication attempts with the victim’s organization were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

The community is urged to remain vigilant while traveling, and efforts are being made to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers in the area.
