Harris commends pro-Farrakhan pastor for comments on gay people’s ‘sin’

FIRST ON FOX: Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris made a controversial visit to a Georgia mega-church led by Pastor Jamal H. Bryant. Despite Bryant’s history of praising antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and making disparaging remarks about the LGBTQ+ community, Harris thanked him for his “leadership” and support during her 20-minute address to the congregation. Bryant, a vocal Harris supporter and donor, introduced her as an “American hero” and urged his congregation to support her candidacy. However, Bryant’s past comments could pose challenges for Harris’s campaign, including his support for Farrakhan and criticism of the gay community.

During the service, Bryant called Harris an inspiration and emphasized her role as a leader for the future. Despite Bryant’s controversies, Harris acknowledged his support and celebrated the congregation’s achievements. She also praised her longtime mentor, Rev. Amos Brown, who was also in attendance, despite his own controversial statements in the past.

While both the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Harris campaign did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment, the visit underscores the complexities of political alliances and the challenges they can present.
