Germany to offer more visas for skilled Indian workers

Germany Pledges to Boost Skilled Indian Workers

Germany has made a significant commitment to increase the number of skilled Indian workers it permits, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz announcing a rise in the annual visas granted to 90,000 from 20,000 during his visit to New Delhi.

During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Scholz outlined plans to streamline the application process and facilitate the recognition of Indian qualifications in Germany. He highlighted the positive impact of nearly 250,000 Indians already residing in Germany, particularly in key sectors like medicine, nursing, and IT.

Modi reciprocated the sentiment, emphasizing the economic benefits of closer ties between India and Germany. The strategic partnership aims to leverage India’s innovation with Germany’s engineering prowess to create a better future for the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

Additionally, recent data revealed a strong interest among Indians in Germany’s “opportunity card” scheme, with over 780 successful applications from India underlining the country’s eagerness to collaborate and contribute to Germany’s workforce.
