Critical Situation in Bolivia as Road Blockades Cause Food Shortages

“The humble and indigenous peoples continue to be the vanguard of struggle,” argued Morales

Road blockades by supporters of former President Evo Morales have led to food shortages in hospitals, homes, and shelters in 4 regions of Bolivia, causing concern for vulnerable populations. Ombudsman Pedro Callisaya Aro reported that at least 14 healthcare facilities and multiple shelters are running low on supplies, particularly affecting children, elderly, and hospitalized patients.

Aro highlighted critical situations in homes and hospitals, urging all parties to engage in genuine dialogue to resolve the crisis. Meanwhile, Morales claimed the blockades were part of an indigenous rebellion against the economic crisis, while his critics alleged the goal was to secure impunity in a pending legal case.
