A grand farewell tribute is currently taking place to honor Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa as he approaches the end of his term. Colleagues and legal professionals are celebrating his impactful tenure with various highlights.
In a symbolic ceremony on Sept 17, 2023, Justice Isa was sworn in as the 29th CJP with his wife Sarina Isa by his side. The next CJP, Justice Yahya Afridi, nominated by a Special Parliamentary Committee, will be taking oath tomorrow (Saturday).
The full court reference is being broadcasted live on the Supreme Court’s website and YouTube channel. Unfortunately, Senior puisne judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, who was next in line for the CJP position, could not attend due to personal reasons.
After the reference, CJP Isa will attend a reception hosted by Justice Afridi. Justice Afridi has generously offered to cover the expenses of a dinner, previously declined by CJP Isa to save public funds.
