Al Jazeera claims Israel targeting journalists with ‘hit list’ – Global news

Al Jazeera has released a scathing statement condemning Israel for targeting journalists in Gaza, accusing them of trying to silence media coverage of the conflict. The network, known for its coverage of potential Israeli war crimes, emphasized the importance of documenting the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Despite Israel categorizing Al Jazeera journalists as terrorists, the network has stood firm in its belief that journalism is not a crime. With over 100 journalists and media workers killed in the past year, Al Jazeera raised concerns that Israel’s accusations could lead to further targeted attacks on reporters still operating in Gaza.

In response, one of the journalists named by Israel, Hossam Shabat, disputed the allegations on social media, calling them a blatant attempt to justify future attacks on journalists. Al Jazeera has taken legal action in the International Criminal Court to hold Israeli leaders accountable for potential war crimes.

The network urged the international community to protect journalists and stop Israel’s attacks on media professionals, emphasizing their commitment to bringing the truth to light despite the threats they face.
