Zulum extends food aid to flood victims for 4 weeks

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has granted a four-week extension to the Flood Disaster Relief Disbursement Committee, aiming to provide food items to flood victims in the state. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Bukar Tijani, announced this in Maiduguri, citing the significant impact of recent floods that led to loss of lives and destruction of properties.

The committee, initially scheduled to conclude its distribution this week, will now have more time to assess and support flood victims effectively. Governor Zulum reviewed the committee’s progress and directed the extension to ensure no victim is left behind.

Tijani emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting those affected by the disaster and highlighted the progress made by the committee. The relief efforts form part of Borno State’s broader initiative to rebuild communities affected by the disaster.

Overall, the extension will enable thorough assessment and support for flood victims, reaffirming the government’s dedication to providing adequate assistance in the face of this natural disaster.
