Warrap residents skeptical about election preparations

The residents of Warrap have expressed their concerns about the readiness of the area for an election, highlighting the lack of capacity within the electoral commission. They emphasized the need for drastic measures from both the national and state governments to ensure a credible election process.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Dau Ngor pointed out the state electoral office’s poor condition, casting doubt on its ability to conduct an election. Lack of financial support, voter education, and census data since 2008 were also noted as issues affecting the electoral process.

Chon Aher echoed the sentiment, stating that without proper voter education, the credibility of any election would be in question. The lack of information about the electoral commission and political parties further complicates the situation.

Overall, Warrap State appears unprepared for an election, with logistical challenges and a lack of voter education hindering the process. Despite these challenges, the State Chairperson for the High Election Committee, Jacob Anei, expressed readiness to conduct an election if announced, citing support from the national government.
