The Future of Green Hydrogen Projects in Morocco
Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch recently led a meeting to discuss the progress of Morocco’s Offer in the field of green hydrogen. The steering committee focused on selecting projects in the southern provinces of Guelmin-Oued Noun, Laayoune Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, emphasizing the importance of optimizing the use of public land for these projects.
With 40 project bids already submitted to the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy from both local and foreign developers, the meeting highlighted the need for a robust contractual framework to ensure the successful implementation of green hydrogen initiatives in the country. This is in line with the High Royal Instructions to accelerate progress and meet quality standards.
Notable attendees at the meeting included Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah, and Industry and Trade Minister Riad Mezzour, showing the government’s commitment to driving forward the green hydrogen agenda in Morocco.
