Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to five PTI-backed MNAs for their crucial support in passing the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The amendment, passed with 65 votes in the Senate and 225 votes in the National Assembly, was deemed a milestone for political and economic stability by the PM.
The PM also called for a comprehensive strategy to address the rising number of polio cases, urging a meeting to review the situation. Furthermore, the Domestic Violence Bill was referred to the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases to establish measures to combat domestic violence.
In another decision, the cabinet approved the appointments of retired Lt Gen Moazzam Ijaz and others as private members of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission Board. Additionally, Dr Shafia Arshad was appointed as chairperson of the National Council for Tibb.
The restructuring of the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan was approved, and the Ministry of Law was designated the agency for applications under the Claims for Maintenance (Recovery Abroad) 1959. These cabinet decisions highlight the government’s commitment to public welfare and institutional development.
