“The degree of confrontation between Israel and Iran has sharply increased. All this resembles a chain reaction and puts the entire Middle East on the brink of a full-scale war.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned that escalating tensions have brought the Middle East to the brink of a major conflict. Speaking at a BRICS Plus Summit in Russia, Putin highlighted the spread of conflict from Gaza to Lebanon, impacting the entire region.
Putin expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, with over 1.5 million refugees and internally displaced Palestinians. Emphasizing the urgent need for a comprehensive political solution, he reiterated Russia’s support for a two-state resolution for lasting peace in the region.
The Russian leader’s remarks come amidst a visit to Moscow by a senior Hamas official, discussions on Palestinian national unity, and condemnation by BRICS of Israel’s military action in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for an immediate ceasefire.
