Putin confirms presence of North Korean troops

President Vladimir Putin addressed the US claims that North Korea had sent troops to Russia, stating that it was Moscow’s decision on how to handle its mutual defense agreement with Pyongyang. He also accused the West of escalating the Ukraine conflict.

When queried about satellite images showing North Korean troop movements, Putin acknowledged the significance of the images but shifted the focus to the Western involvement in Ukraine. He claimed that NATO officers and instructors were actively participating in the conflict.

Putin highlighted Article 4 of Russia’s partnership deal with North Korea, emphasizing that both parties take their agreements seriously. However, he asserted that Russia’s actions under this article were its own prerogative.

The Russian president’s response reflects a stance of sovereignty and independence in handling international agreements and alliances, despite external pressures and accusations. Russia’s relationship with North Korea and its approach to defense matters are portrayed as decisions made with due consideration and autonomy.
