Putin, Biden Press Conferences Expose ‘Media Access Double Standard’

Meet the Press vs. Flee the Press: Putin, Biden Pressers Highlight ‘Double Standard’ on Media Access

Sputnik International

President Putin gave a press conference to international journalists during the BRICS bloc’s 16th Summit in Kazan, Russia. Putin addressed sharp questions from Western reporters, providing insights into the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis. This contrasted sharply with Washington’s limitations on Russian journalist access, noted analyst Jeremy Kuzmarov.

Putin emphasized that the US-backed coup in 2014, not Russia’s actions, led to the escalation in Ukraine. He debunked claims of Russian interference in US elections. Meanwhile, the Biden presidency has avoided press interactions, holding the fewest conferences since the 1980s.

“This is a clear double standard that Western journalists are allowed to pose questions to President Putin while Russian journalists cannot directly question Joe Biden,” Kuzmarov stated.
