Recent reports suggest that 3,000 North Korean soldiers have traveled to Russia for training, sparking fears that they may join the conflict in Ukraine. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby warned that if North Korean soldiers enter the conflict on Russia’s side, they will be considered “legitimate military targets” by Kiev’s forces.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressed concern over the presence of North Korean troops in Russia, stating that it would be a serious issue if they intended to participate in the war on Russia’s behalf. Kirby revealed that the soldiers have been dispatched to Russian training sites, raising suspicions that they may engage in combat against the Ukrainian military.
While Pyongyang denies these claims as “groundless rumors,” South Korea’s spy agency suggests that 1,500 North Korean troops are undergoing training in Russia, with plans to join the conflict in Ukraine. The situation remains tense as concerns grow over the potential involvement of North Korean soldiers in the ongoing conflict.
