Morocco has maintained its 92nd position out of 142 countries in the 2024 Global Rule of Law Index, as per the World Justice Project report. The kingdom’s overall score remained at 0.48, indicating stable performance. Over the past years, Morocco’s ranking has seen fluctuations, with 2022 placing it at 94th, 2021 at 90th, and previous years at 79th (2020) and 74th (2019).
The evaluation criteria cover various aspects of rule of law, including government powers, corruption, transparency, fundamental rights, order, security, law enforcement, civil justice, and criminal justice. Morocco ranks 75th in government powers oversight, 95th in corruption absence, and 103rd in open government. The country stands at 115th for fundamental rights, 89th for order and security, and 78th for regulatory enforcement.
Among Arab countries, Morocco ranks sixth, surpassing Algeria but trailing behind the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, and Tunisia. Globally, Denmark leads the index, while Haiti, Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Venezuela occupy the lowest positions. Overall, Morocco’s consistent performance reflects its commitment to upholding the rule of law within the region.
