Macron urges ceasefire in Lebanon

French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated the need for a ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing regret over Iran’s involvement with Hezbollah against Israel. However, he also criticized Israel’s actions in the region. Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized the importance of international support in rebuilding Lebanon’s army and infrastructure amidst Israel’s assault on Hezbollah.

Mikati disclosed that the Lebanese government plans to recruit additional troops, with a potential deployment of 8,000 soldiers to implement a ceasefire and comply with the UN Security Council resolution. This resolution calls for the deployment of the army in southern Lebanon to maintain peace and stability in the region.
