Germany has pledged an additional €96 million in humanitarian and development aid to Lebanon. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock emphasized the importance of actively responding to the crisis in the Middle East and supporting the people of Lebanon who seek peace and safety. The aid comes ahead of a conference in Paris aiming to raise €500 million in humanitarian aid for Lebanon.

Baerbock also expressed the need to prevent a new war between Israel and Lebanon, highlighting ongoing efforts in that regard.

French authorities are optimistic about the outcomes of the aid conference, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz already confirming the support for Lebanon during a recent phone call with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
