Israel committed multiple war crimes in Lebanon in July.

The Devastating Aftermath of Israeli Airstrikes on Beirut

Wednesday marked a month since Israel’s “Arrows of the North” campaign widened its attacks on Lebanon, resulting in over 2,000 deaths and 9,000 injuries. The casualty count surpassed the toll of the previous “border war” with Hezbollah. Over a million citizens have been displaced, and 3,000 buildings destroyed in Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon.

Israel’s attacks have expanded beyond previous limits, targeting civilians and infrastructure, resulting in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The destruction includes cultural and historic sites and civilian-owned buildings. Lebanese lawyer Ghida Frangieh highlights Israeli forces’ systematic destruction of rescue teams, UNIFIL, and essential sectors like water and electricity.

Despite Lebanon’s complaints to the UN Security Council, no action has been taken. Frangieh emphasizes the importance of documenting Israeli crimes for future legal action. Israel’s disregard for civilian safety and its disproportionate attacks violate international law and human rights.

The ongoing aggression in Lebanon demands global attention and accountability for Israel’s atrocities.
