Greek, German leaders to discuss Thessaloniki Holocaust Museum.

Exciting progress is being made on the construction of the Holocaust Museum of Greece in Thessaloniki, with completion expected by the end of 2026. President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are set to discuss the advancements during their meeting in the northern port city.

The museum, situated at the Old Railway Station, a departure point for trains headed to Nazi concentration camps, will honor the 50,000 Thessaloniki Jews who lost their lives during World War II.

Designed as a remarkable octagonal structure, the museum will cover 9,000 square meters and feature six aboveground levels and two underground levels for exhibitions, education, and research.

The construction is supported by significant contributions, including €18 million from the Greek government, €10 million each from Germany and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and a $1 million donation from Dr. Albert Bourla through the Genesis Prize Foundation.
