France, along with other countries, pledged financial assistance to support Lebanon during an international conference. President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for substantial aid to address the impact of the war between Hezbollah militants and Israel, which has led to displacement, casualties, and economic turmoil.
Macron called for urgent humanitarian aid to help the displaced population and host communities. Italy and Germany also committed additional funds to aid Lebanon. Macron criticized Israel’s military operations in Lebanon and reiterated his plea for a ceasefire.
The conference aims to coordinate support for Lebanon’s armed forces and strengthen institutions to restore sovereignty. Discussions will include providing equipment, training, and financial aid to enhance the army’s capabilities. Participants will also explore ways to bolster the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
