Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi released on bail

Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi released on bail

The former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has been released from prison after nearly nine months of incarceration following her bail approval in a case involving the illegal sale of state gifts. This development comes as a significant legal relief for Khan and his family, as Bibi was granted bail and allowed to leave Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan is still detained.

Supporters welcomed Bibi’s release as they threw rose petals on the vehicles escorting her out of the jail. However, she still faces another graft case related to receiving land from a real estate developer. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, led by Khan, expressed support for Bibi upon her release, denouncing the campaign against her during her time in detention.

Despite facing various legal challenges, including anti-terrorism charges, Khan and his family deny all allegations, attributing them to government motives to discredit the former cricket star. The political landscape in Pakistan continues to be turbulent, with Khan’s standoff with the military adding to the country’s instability.
