FG gives Julius Berger deadline on Abuja-Kaduna road

Government Issues Ultimatum to Julius Berger for Abuja-Kaduna Road Rehabilitation

The Federal Government has given Julius Berger a final seven-day ultimatum to accept a proposal of N740.79bn to complete the rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road or face contract termination. Minister of Works, David Umahi, emphasized the urgency of resolving the project that has been stalled for years.

Umahi expressed disappointment in the delays by Julius Berger, accusing the company of playing politics with the highway. The government is adamant about not being held hostage by unrealistic pricing demands. The minister urged the contractor to accept the revised contract sum within seven days or risk contract termination.

Julius Berger’s new Managing Director promised to address the issues promptly, hoping for a consensus to kickstart the project without further delay. The government is determined to prioritize essential road infrastructure projects for economic transformation.
