China calls Australia hypocritical and racist over Uyghur atrocities at UN.

China has accused Australia of “hypocrisy” and “systemic racism” after Beijing was confronted at the United Nations over alleged abuses in Xinjiang and Tibet. The Chinese envoy to the UN also criticized Australia for ignoring the “living hell” in Gaza amidst Israeli attacks. Australia, along with the US and the UK, addressed human rights abuses in Xinjiang and Tibet, citing a UN report on violations against Uyghur Muslims. China dismissed the report as “illegal” and “fabricated” by anti-China forces.

Australia’s ambassador to the UN raised concerns about human rights abuses in Tibet, including restrictions on travel and coercive labor arrangements. Chinese officials defended Tibet as an “internal affair” and accused Australia of racism and hate crimes. The Chinese envoy criticized Australia’s silence on the Gaza conflict, calling out their alleged hypocrisy on human rights issues.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese refuted the Chinese allegations and emphasized standing up for Australia’s interests. The dispute occurs amidst efforts to improve economic and diplomatic relations between Australia and China. Despite disagreements, both countries are working towards stability in their relationship.
