BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The Azerbaijani Parliament has recently spoken out against a biased resolution passed by the European Parliament in a statement released on October 24, 2024. The European Parliament’s resolution titled ‘On the situation in Azerbaijan, violation of human rights and international law and relations with Armenia’ has been strongly criticized by the Azerbaijani Parliament for overlooking key issues in the region.
The statement highlighted the European Parliament’s failure to acknowledge the three-decade-long Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territory, the destruction of cities and villages, and the suffering of over a million Azerbaijani refugees and forced migrants. The resolution was deemed biased, one-sided, and filled with disinformation, unfounded accusations, and threats against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Azerbaijani Parliament firmly rejected the resolution and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the country’s interests. The statement reflected concerns about the European Parliament’s motives and its anti-Azerbaijani stance, emphasizing the need to maintain independence and sovereignty in the face of external pressure.
