Venezuelan gang members arrested by NY police | Crime News

A recent police arrest in the US has brought to light the presence of a violent Venezuelan gang operating in the country. The suspects, Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias and Moises Alejandro Condollo-Urbaneja, were apprehended for using a credit card belonging to a homicide victim.

Both individuals are linked to Tren de Aragua, a criminal organization from Venezuela. This incident comes amid a heated US presidential race where immigration and crime have taken center stage.

While studies show that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than US citizens, incidents like the murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley have stirred fears about immigration.

President Trump has used these cases to highlight his stance on immigration, particularly focusing on the Tren de Aragua gang in Aurora, Colorado. Despite claims, city officials have denounced the exaggerated reports of gang activity, emphasizing Aurora’s safety.

Authorities have taken measures to combat the gang, with President Biden sanctioning them and Texas Governor Greg Abbott declaring Tren de Aragua a Tier 1 threat.
