Attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries Headquarters Leaves Five Dead
Five individuals were tragically killed in an attack at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) headquarters near Ankara, with 22 others sustaining injuries. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while attending a BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, condemned the heinous act. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that two assailants were killed in what was described as a terrorist attack.
Following the incident, Turkey’s Defense Ministry conducted airstrikes on Kurdish militant targets in Syria and Iraq. Authorities reported that the attackers set off explosives and opened fire at the facility, resulting in significant damage. Despite the uncertainty of the motive, the government pointed fingers at the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK).
Global leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and NATO chief Mark Rutte, expressed condolences and solidarity with Turkey in the aftermath of the attack. The US also condemned the violence, emphasizing the need to bring the perpetrators to justice.
