PPP Moves to Establish Constitutional Benches in Sindh and Baluchistan

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has taken a significant step by announcing plans to introduce and pass resolutions in the Sindh and Baluchistan assemblies for the formation of constitutional benches in these provinces. This decision comes in light of the newly passed 26th Constitutional Amendment, which requires a resolution to be passed in a provincial assembly with a simple majority to establish benches under Article 202-A.

PPP, being the majority party in the provincial houses of Sindh and Baluchistan, aims to swiftly secure the passage of these resolutions. The party has instructed all its provincial legislators to ensure their mandatory participation in the voting process. Meanwhile, efforts to establish constitutional benches in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have faced obstacles due to the provincial government’s stance on the matter.

The ruling party, PML-N, is also expected to move forward with passing a resolution in the Punjab Assembly to establish provincial constitutional benches. Stay tuned for updates on this developing situation.
