A recent poll in Germany has revealed that a majority of Germans are against the government’s decision to resume weapons supplies to Israel. Only 31% of those surveyed believe Germany should send weapons to ensure Israel’s security, while 9% were undecided. The decision to resume arms supplies came after assurances from Tel Aviv that German military equipment would be used in compliance with international law.
This move follows a previous halt in weapons supplies after Nicaragua accused Germany of aiding “genocide” in Gaza, leading to a case being brought before the International Court of Justice.
While Germany has historically been a key ally of Israel, critics argue that its unwavering support for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government is tarnishing its international reputation and causing further isolation on the global stage.
