Study shows poor adherence to hybrid work policies

A recent study by Ibec revealed that only 10% of HR professionals report full compliance with on-site or hybrid attendance policies, while nearly half report a compliance level of at least 50%. Despite the right to request remote work introduced earlier this year, less than a quarter of companies have received applications for flexible or remote work.

The survey also highlighted an increase in compulsory on-site attendance, with 26% of companies implementing it, up six percentage points from last year. This push for a return to the office is accompanied by more clarity on what work must be done on-site versus off-site, which has risen by five percentage points to 13%.

While some businesses are considering increasing on-site attendance, the majority are still offering remote and hybrid options to recruit and retain staff, acknowledging the benefits for both employees and the company. Additionally, many organizations are implementing initiatives like team and collaboration days to encourage on-site attendance.

84% of businesses anticipate an increase in basic pay rate next year, with 40% predicting a 2-3% rise. Employee turnover is lower than last year at 8.3%, with talent acquisition and retention challenges revolving around talent availability and competition for skills.

As regulations like pension auto enrolment and remote work expectations continue to impact businesses, the shift towards sustainable work practices that support both staff and the business remains a priority.
