Shooting with Mexican troops kills 19 suspected Sinaloa cartel members.

In a recent incident in Sinaloa, Mexico, military forces engaged in a firefight with suspected members of the Sinaloa cartel, resulting in the death of 19 individuals. The clash occurred near Culiacan, where the cartel has faced increased violence following the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. Zambada’s arrest sparked a conflict between his faction and the sons of drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, leading to ongoing tensions within the cartel.

The ministry of defense confirmed that the individuals killed in the recent confrontation were associated with Zambada’s faction. This escalation comes after Zambada’s arrest in the U.S and his accusations against El Chapo’s son, Joaquin Guzman Lopez. Allegations of torture tactics, including corkscrews and feeding victims to tigers, have further highlighted the brutality within the cartel.
