Searches in Spain, Ireland aim at catching Hutch gang

In a joint effort between Irish and Spanish authorities, a series of searches were conducted as part of an investigation into the Hutch organised crime group’s alleged involvement in money laundering activities. Gardaí from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) partnered with Spanish police to conduct searches in Spain and Dublin.

This morning, a house in Dublin was searched by GNBCI officers alongside a Guardia Civil officer from Spain, with support from the Criminal Assets Bureau and the Emergency Response Unit. This operation, carried out following a request from Spanish authorities, aims to crack down on the criminal network’s illicit activities.

This ongoing collaboration between the GNBCI and Guardia Civil in Spain previously led to a successful search in Lanzarote in June 2022. The joint efforts highlight the dedication of law enforcement agencies in combating transnational organized crime and sending a strong message against illicit financial activities.
