Yogeshwar’s Political Journey: From Sandalwood to Congress to BJP
Yogeshwar, a former actor turned politician, has had a tumultuous political career filled with ups and downs. Despite his success in the entertainment industry, Yogeshwar decided to delve into politics and won his first election in Channapatna as an independent candidate in 1999. He then went on to win on a Congress ticket in the 2004 and 2008 Assembly polls.
However, his career was not without controversy. In 2011, Yogeshwar faced allegations regarding his real estate company, Megacity Builders and Development Ltd, for fraudulent practices. Despite these challenges, Yogeshwar continued to switch parties, moving from BJP to Congress and back to BJP.
His rivalry with Kumaraswamy, a prominent political figure in Karnataka, added another layer of complexity to his political journey. Despite his efforts, Yogeshwar was unable to secure victory in the 2018 and 2023 elections against Kumaraswamy.
