President Tokayev lays out bold agenda for agricultural advancement in Kazakhstan

In a recent speech at the ceremony for the presentation of state awards on Republic Day, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan underscored the critical role of the agricultural sector in guaranteeing food security. He outlined plans to enhance Kazakhstan’s presence in the global food market, expressing gratitude to farmers for their hard work amidst challenges like spring floods. Despite these obstacles, the country achieved a record harvest, gathering over 26 million tons of grain this year.

President Tokayev credited the government’s support for this success, noting a threefold increase in preferential loans for the spring planting campaign and additional funds allocated for leasing agricultural machinery. Looking ahead, he announced ambitious plans for the sector, with 865 projects worth 2.6 trillion tenge ($5.3 billion) set to be implemented. This initiative aims to increase agricultural productivity and ensure Kazakhstan’s significant contributions to food security both at home and abroad.
