Police pledge to crack down on scavengers damaging govt infrastructure in Abuja

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Tunji Disu, has issued a stern warning to scavengers, commonly known as Baba Bola, who have been vandalizing government infrastructure. These scavengers have been causing damage to streetlights, manholes, and other government assets in the nation’s capital.

During an unannounced visit to scavenger colonies in the FCT, Disu made it clear that anyone found aiding in the destruction of government property will face the full force of the law. He emphasized the importance of cracking down on these activities to reduce overall crime rates.

The Chairman of the Gwarinpa Pantaker Association, Bashir Lawal, has pledged to cooperate with the police and report any members engaging in questionable behavior.

Additionally, the command recently addressed false reports circulating on social media regarding the arrest and detention of a minor, clarifying that they were acting in accordance with the law and a court order.
