Poland’s Foreign Minister announced the closure of a Russian consulate in response to acts of sabotage linked to Moscow. Radek Sikorski condemned Russia for its alleged hybrid war actions against Poland and its allies, warning of further consequences if the behavior continues.
During a press conference in Warsaw, Sikorski accused Russia of orchestrating sabotage attempts in Poland and other allied countries. He withdrew consent for the Russian Consulate in Poznan and declared its personnel unwelcome in Poland. Russia also maintains consulates in Gdansk and Krakow.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova promised a retaliatory response to Poland’s decision. Sikorski highlighted the arrest of a Ukrainian citizen who confessed to being instructed by Russian agents to carry out an arson attack in Wroclaw. He claimed that around 20 sabotage suspects are under investigation in Poland.
The Polish government believes Russia is engaging in hybrid warfare against them and Western nations as retaliation for supporting Ukraine. The situation underscores tensions between the two countries.
