PASOK chief says government eroded security sense.

PASOK chief says government eroded security sense.

In a fiery speech to Parliament, Nikos Androulakis, PASOK leader, criticized the government for failing to ensure people’s safety during its tenure. With 37% of Attica’s forests destroyed by fires in eight years, he accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of using climate change as a smokescreen for governmental failures.

‘Yes, climate change is real, and no one disputes that. The real issue is whether there’s a well-prepared and effective national strategy’

Androulakis also slammed Minister Vassilis Kikilias for his lack of preparedness during a recent wildfire. He further criticized the government’s safety measures after the Tempe railway disaster, demanding accountability.

Interestingly, Mitsotakis left during Androulakis’ speech, skipping Nikos Pappas of the SYRIZA parliamentary group’s address, symbolically showing his disregard for the opposition. This political gesture reflects a deeper rift in Greek politics.
