Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden during the upcoming G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. Biden plans to focus on the Partnership for Workers’ Rights, an initiative launched with Lula last year to combat forced labor and promote decent work standards.
The White House aims to lead efforts to provide debt relief for countries struggling with high debt burdens. This issue was highlighted at last year’s G20 summit in India, with calls for major lenders, including China, to reduce lending rates.
Lula and Biden will discuss expanding the workers’ rights initiative to include more countries, emphasizing the importance of empowering workers and eliminating discrimination in the workplace. The US participation in the G20 summit will focus on financial institutions and major creditors increasing support for debt-ridden nations.
