Lahore Schools Change Timings to Combat Smog Crisis
In response to the severe smog affecting Lahore, the Punjab Environment Protection Department has announced new school timings starting October 28. Schools will now open at 8:45 am to limit children’s exposure to the hazardous air until January 31. With Lahore’s Air Quality Index exceeding 150, the government has also banned outdoor activities and fireworks to reduce pollution levels.
To tackle the smog crisis, citizens are urged to report any polluting vehicles or factories to the helpline 1373 for action. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of cooperation in eradicating smog, advising the public to wear masks outdoors and keep windows closed. Additionally, she encouraged vehicle fitness checks and proactive measures against smog.
