The Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, revealed that Ireland is considering banning imports from Israeli-occupied territories due to violations of humanitarian law. This decision follows legal confirmation from the country’s attorney general in line with the International Court of Justice’s Advisory Opinion.

Harris emphasized the importance of not supporting trade relationships that contribute to the maintenance of Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. He urged for urgent action to end the conflict and fulfill obligations under international law.

The ICJ’s Advisory Opinion highlighted the violations of international humanitarian law by Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land, underscoring the need for immediate action to address the ongoing crisis. Harris pledged to review trade restrictions and work on legal amendments to align with EU law.

Harris also called on EU states to reconsider their trade agreements with Israel in light of the recent developments. The Irish PM emphasized the need for immediate cessation of hostilities, release of hostages, and increased humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Ongoing Genocide

Israel’s brutal offensive on Gaza has triggered international condemnation, with Harris urging for a review of EU-Israel trade relations in the wake of escalating violence. The conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with a significant number of civilian casualties and widespread displacement among Palestinians.
