Hochstein’s proposals violate sovereignty, gov’t must enforce 1559

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has urged the government to uphold U.N. resolutions to prevent further escalation, particularly emphasizing on resolution 1559 while criticizing U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein’s suggestions for encroaching on Lebanese sovereignty.

Geagea stressed that the conflict in Lebanon is rooted in the struggle between Israel and Iran and highlighted the importance of implementing resolutions 1559, 1680, and 1701 instead of just acknowledging them.

Accusing Speaker Nabih Berri and caretaker PM Najib Mikati of avoiding the implementation of key U.N. resolutions, Geagea emphasized the need for a decisive stance to address Lebanon’s current challenges.

The Lebanese Forces leader also revealed his efforts to prompt Mikati to confront Hezbollah about their weaponry and emphasized the significance of the Lebanese Army’s presence on the border to prevent external aggression.
