Rumors of Dinka Malual youth recruitment into RSF dismissed by Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State Authorities

Recent rumors of the recruitment of Dinka Malual youth into the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to participate in the conflict with Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) have been dismissed by authorities in Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State. Despite reports of South Sudanese involvement with RSF and SAF since the war in Sudan began on April 15, 2023, Minister Garang Zacharia Lual emphasized South Sudan’s neutrality in the neighboring country’s conflict.

Minister Lual reiterated that no youth recruitment for participation in the Sudanese war was taking place in Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State. Aweil East County Commissioner, Diing Aher Ngong, also expressed his commitment to preventing any recruitment during his tenure. The Chairperson of the Dinka Malual Joint Border Peace Committee, Anguei Noon Atak, affirmed his community’s respect for South Sudan’s administration and stated they would not intervene in the Sudanese conflict.

These statements emphasize the commitment of Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State authorities and community leaders to maintain peace and neutrality amidst the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
