Germany Confronts North Korea Over Alleged Support for Russia in Ukraine
Germany has demanded the presence of North Korea’s charge d’affaires in response to suspicions that Pyongyang is increasing support for Russia’s war in Ukraine. Reports suggest that North Korean soldiers have been deployed to Russia for eventual deployment in Ukraine, prompting Germany’s Foreign Office to express serious concern.
The Foreign Office stated that North Korea’s support for Russia’s aggression in Ukraine violates international law and directly threatens Germany’s security and European peace. South Korean lawmakers also reported that 3,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia to assist in the invasion of Ukraine, with more expected to follow.
North Korea and Russia have strengthened their cooperation in recent years, signing defense agreements and exchanging military assistance. South Korean intelligence revealed that Pyongyang has sent significant quantities of weaponry to Russia to replenish its stockpile.
