DA’s Msimanga challenges Lesufi to public debate on Gauteng water crisis

DA Gauteng provincial leader Solly Msimanga has issued a challenge to Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi for a public debate on the ongoing water crisis in the province. This challenge comes as Rand Water alerts residents about low water storage levels due to excessive municipal withdrawals, emphasizing the need for water conservation.

Msimanga believes that a transparent solution is needed to tackle the crisis and has called on Lesufi to present a plan to address the severe infrastructure damage in Gauteng. He highlights the importance of a provincial infrastructure master plan to effectively manage resources and budget allocation.

Lesufi had previously stated that water is not within the provincial government’s jurisdiction, but Msimanga disagrees, emphasizing the need for leadership and accountability in addressing the crisis. He believes that creating a conducive environment for water provision is crucial for the province.

The debate between Msimanga and Lesufi aims to shed light on the responsibilities and actions needed to mitigate the water crisis in Gauteng.
