South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce Extends Leadership Term Amidst Challenges

The South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture recently announced an extension of its leadership term for another three years until 2027. This decision was made due to the challenging environment that has made it difficult to hold elections.

A meeting held in Juba brought together chairpersons and members from all ten states and three administrative areas to discuss and agree on the extension. Losidik Lukak, the chairperson of the Chamber, emphasized the importance of unity and continuity in the face of adversity.

While the current leaders acknowledge the need for democratic elections in the future, they recognize the existing challenges, including security issues and economic constraints. The extension aims to provide stability and allow for positive change within the Chamber.

Robert Pitia, speaking on behalf of the states and administrative areas, expressed support for the extension and emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful environment to promote economic growth and agricultural development.
